On Tuesday August 23rd Margie and I were traveling to south Virginia. About 1:55 p.m. six miles north of Port Royal Virginia we stopped at a 7-11 to get gas. I filled up the gas tank, got back in and started the car. Margie asked how many gallons it took. I put the car in reverse and just as it moved the car started rocking, violently, from side to side.
It scared me half have to death ! People were yelling. I thought that I had run over something or someone. I threw the car into park and jumped out. A guy in another car said, “ that was an earthquake or this gas station is gonna blow up.” Now we know that it was an earthquake and we were just 40 miles from the center.
